Prosper CSA Welcomes Deacon Alex Barbieri
April 11th, 2025
PROSPER HIGH SCHOOL - On Thursday, The Prosper High School Catholic Students Association welcomed Deacon Alex Barbieri as a guest speaker to their meeting. Deacon Alex has been a deacon in the Catholic Dioceses of Dallas since 2018 and part of the staff at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco since 2019. He was the first deacon to speak to CSA. "Deacon Barbieri's speech resonated with our club greatly,” sophomore Patrick Corbett said. Deacon Alex emphasized the importance of Holy Week and the Triduum in the season of Lent by explaining the major events of the week and the meaning behind them.
“I truly felt like the Lord was speaking through him. He was an amazing speaker that I was blessed to have met”
— Tyler Albino
“Listening to Deacon Barbieri’s speech really opened my heart and mind,” senior Tyler Albino said. “He spoke so deeply, yet so simply about the symbolism that is present during Lent, and what the holy days during Holy Week represent.” Members say they felt inspired by the Deacon’s talk and learned a lot about the holiest week of the liturgical year. “The meeting was very inspiring,” sophomore Josh Anojulu said. “We learned about the true importance of Lent.”
To close the meeting, Deacon Alex prayed over the group and blessed the club.
CSA’s next meeting will be on April 24th. They will welcome another dynamic guest speaker: Mr. Chad Wegner, a former Lutheran and convert to the Catholic faith.
